The Gold Philharmonic Coin
The Austrian Mint first issued the 1 oz Gold Philharmonics in 1989. The 1 oz gold coin was fashioned from .9999 fine gold and had a face value of 2,000 Austrian shillings. The face value of Philharmonic Gold coins was changed from €100 to €100 in 2002, when the currency was introduced in 2002. The Gold Philharmonic coin's obverse depicts the magnificent pipe organ in Vienna's Golden Hall, while the reverse features an assortment of instruments, including the cello, violin, harp, Vienna horn and bassoon.
