This refreshed Utah 5 Goldback foil note contains 1/200 oz .999 fine Gold which is the first local, voluntary currency to be made of a spendable, beautiful, physical Gold.
Goldbacks resemble standard paper currency in shape but are made with thin layers of 24-karat gold. Initially introduced in Utah following the Utah Legal Tender Act of 2019, they serve as a voluntary currency, allowing transactions at the vendor's discretion. The Story Behind Devotionis
The refreshed Utah 5 Goldback embodies the virtue Devotionis, or devotion. She represents the unwavering faith of pioneer settlers in the mid to late 1800s. Rising in the background is the Salt Lake City Temple, a historic landmark that is a testament to the pioneers' commitment and hard work. Devotionis holds a Bible and a basket filled with early crops harvested in the valley. Behind her grows a native cottonwood tree, its trunk carved with the word "Deseret" in the Deseret alphabet. Under a UV light, the inscription's English translation is revealed.

A beehive hangs from branches of the cottonwood tree, a symbol of industry that has become deeply associated with Utah's identity. Honeybees circle Devotionis and UV-reactive ink reveals a honeybee necklace resting against her chest. The scene reflects the settlers' faith-driven labor that shaped Utah's identity.
