Julius Caesar & the Battle of Alesia
In 52 BCE, Julius Caesar achieved one of the greatest military feats in recorded history. Vastly outnumbered at Alesia, Caesar ordered the construction of an 18 km inner wall to contain the besieged Gallic fort and a 21 km outer wall to repel a relief force exceeding 300,000 warriors — defeating both with only 60,000 men. The victory broke Gallic resistance, leading to Vercingetorix's surrender and cementing Caesar's place as Rome's supreme military commander. This 2 oz pure silver coin immortalizes that legacy in extraordinary detail.
