50 Years of Aardman
Founded in 1976 by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, Aardman Animations has grown from a small Bristol studio into one of the most celebrated animation companies in the world. Home to Wallace and Gromit, Morph, Shaun the Sheep, Timmy and a host of other beloved characters, Aardman has delighted fans young and old across film, television and beyond — earning Academy Awards, BAFTAs and the enduring affection of audiences worldwide. This coin celebrates 50 extraordinary years of a true British institution.

Wallace and Gromit
Created by Nick Park and first introduced in the 1989 short film A Grand Day Out, Wallace and Gromit have become arguably the most recognisable characters in British animation history. The long-suffering but ever-loyal Gromit and his cheese-obsessed inventor companion have starred in multiple Academy Award-winning films and captivated generations of fans. Alongside Morph — the original Aardman creation — and Shaun the Sheep, they represent half a century of stop-motion storytelling at its very finest.
