Product Details

Fractional Gold Eagles provide an aspect of collectibility on top of Gold investment value. This rare variety was produced by mistake and no mintage figure has been given by the U.S. Mint, adding further collectible appeal.
Coin Highlights:
  • Contains 1/4 oz actual Gold weight.
  • PCGS encapsulation protects and guarantees the MS-67 condition of the coin.
  • Unique uncirculated Gold Eagle with a "W" mint mark.
  • Obverse: Adapted from Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ famed Gold Double Eagle design, which features Lady Liberty walking confidently against the sun’s rays.
  • Reverse: Designed by Miley Busiek showing a male bald eagle in flight carrying an olive branch to his nest, where a female awaits with her young.

Containing 1/4 oz of Gold and featuring beloved designs, it is easy to see why the Gold Eagle is the most popular Gold coin in the United States. Add this 1999-W 1/4 oz Gold Eagle to your cart today!

In 1999, the mint at West Point, New York accidentally produced what may become one of the most important rarities of the 20th Century by striking a limited quantity of Uncirculated 1/4 ounce American Eagle Gold coins with the "W" mint mark below the date. Normally, the mint mark appears only on Proof versions. However, in this case, the dies never received the special polishing that gives Proof coins their deep, mirrorlike qualities.
