1882-S Morgan Dollar MS-67 NGC
In 1878, Morgan Silver Dollars were first minted in Carson City, Nevada and production began at the San Francisco Mint later in 1878. Morgan Silver Dollars were originally composed of 90% Silver and 10% Copper. Morgan Silver Dollars have a reeded edge and the Morgan Dollar design features Miss Liberty on the obverse, who is thought to be modeled after George T. Morgan's wife on the Morgan Silver Dollars. Morgan Silver Dollars were produced every year from 1878 until 1904 and then again in 1921 one last time before production came to a halt. Morgan Silver Dollars were minted in Philadelphia, San Francisco, New Orleans and Carson City.
