Until 1955, U.S. Mint proof sets were packaged in small cardboard boxes, with each coin contained in a small cellophane sleeve.
These sets are tough to find today, especially in their original packaging. Set Highlights: Made by the U.S.
Mint in Philadelphia. Mintage of 128,200.
Early proof sets like this are packaged with each coin individually in protective cellophane inside a cardboard box. Because the cellophane originally housing these coins typically degraded and became brittle over time, any sets where the sleeves have been compromised will have the affected coins placed in a plastic flip to protect their delicate brilliant proof surfaces.
Each set contains: Lincoln wheat cent Jefferson nickel Roosevelt dime Washington quarter Franklin half dollarContinue your proof set collection by adding this rare 1953 U.S. Proof Set to your cart today!
